Privacy Policy

LifeDots does not collect any data. Nothing it records is transmitted anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to be sent — the extension has no server, no account and no analytics.

What LifeDots stores

Everything below is written to your browser's own local storage on your own computer, and stays there:

• The name of the one habit you are tracking.
• The list of website addresses you told it that habit happens on.
• How many minutes were spent on those addresses, per day.
• Which days are marked done.
• Your settings, such as the daily minute target.

What LifeDots never sees

• The content of any page — no text, no images, nothing you type.
• Any website other than the ones you explicitly named.
• Your browsing history, bookmarks, passwords, email or messages.
• Your name, email address, IP address or location.

What is sent to us, or to anyone else

Nothing. The extension makes no network requests. There is no telemetry, no crash reporting, no usage statistics and no third-party service of any kind.

Why it needs the permissions it asks for

• Storage — to keep your habit and your dots on your machine between browser sessions.
• Alarms — to roll the day over at midnight.
• Idle — to stop counting when you step away from the keyboard, so an open tab is not mistaken for work.
• Access to the sites you name — and only those, granted one at a time as you add them. This is how elapsed time is attributed to the right site. On every other website the extension is unable to read the address at all.
• Active tab — when you are on a site that is not yet on your list and you click the extension's icon, it reads that one tab's address so it can offer to start counting it. It works only because you clicked, and gives no access to any other tab.
• Notifications — to show a message when you have drifted away from the work during a session.

Deleting your data

Uninstalling the extension deletes everything it stored. There is no copy anywhere else for us to delete, and no account to close.

Children

LifeDots is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version ever collects anything, this page will say so plainly and the change will be described in the extension's update notes before it takes effect.
